Hi everyone,
Hoping all is well! Please see updates this week below. Also, here's an article by CampusGroups about how to attract and retain members.
Budget Revision Deadline
If your group received an allocation from the Scholars Council during the fall semester, you must revise your budget and submit for final approval by student development by November 13th. Revised budgets can be emailed to student.clubs@mhc.cuny.edu. You cannot access your funding unless your budget is fully approved. Further, failure to have your groups budget revised by the deadline will result in your group only being eligible to receive 50% of your allocated funding.
DEI: Why Inclusion Matters
Getting a range of perspectives, people, and differences within your group, will help make the best version of your group. View this short clip which talks about exclusionary practices at Harvard University to learn more about why inclusion is important.

Supporting Excellence Conference
Join the Macaulay Diversity Initiative for an evening conference focusing on advocacy and community organizing. The annual conference aims to open up a dialogue on topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion and how to advocate for an anti-racist community of scholars.
The conference will include an alumni panel, a workshop hosted by Macaulay’s Mental Health and Wellness Center, and a workshop hosted by Saranna Belgrave, the leader of Macaulay’s new Grey STEM Scholars program.

Travel Proposals
If you're looking to travel in the spring semester, all travel proposals for Spring are due by 12/4/23. You'll need to inlcude of the required materials in the off-campus travel checklist and your proposals can be emailed to student.clubs@mhc.cuny.edu. We will only choose and support 3 trips (total; out of all clubs and proposals). Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
Remember, you will need to separately also apply for Travel funding via an additional funding request to the Scholars Council. If your trip is not approved, funding will revert back to the Scholars Council. Trips costing an excess of $500 for chaperones will need to be funded by the club.
