Welcome back!
We're happy to have all of you part of our student leadership group this year! About every two weeks, we'll be sending important updates just for Club Leaders; keep on the look out. You can see any you've missed here. Just a reminder, if you have general questions about Club Macaulay, Student Activities policies or clubs in general you can reach everyone on the Student Development team at student.clubs@mhc.cuny.edu
We're also excited to see you all on Monday at Community Resources Day (12pm-4pm at John Jay)! Just a reminder, the virtual fair will be open from 8/18 to 8/28 - be sure to contact any interested students after that date that may be on your contacts. You can also list your general interest meetings in the fair happening during that time, too. /chrisdaversa
Club Council Meeting
The first mandatory Club Council meeting of the year will be a joint meeting with the Scholars Council, this upcoming Thursday, 8/24/23 from 3pm-5pm in the Lecture Hall at Macaulaly (35 W 67th Street).
Each club is required to send at least 1 representative. We have a lot of important announcements, a special guest, information about the Macaulay Building, and what to expect for the upcoming year! If you have any questions, concerns, or topics to discuss please share with the VP of Campus Affairs, Yassir.Azzam@macaulay.cuny.edu
Club Registration
Club reregistration is live. Remember you need to clarify your goals, have updated members, and all of your issues resolved by 9/22/23 in order to remain an active club this year. Click here for more info on Club Registration.
SPARC
SPARC is CUNY's online Title IX: Sexual Misconduct training. As club officers, it is a requirement to complete Title IX training annually. We are still waiting to get everyone enrolled and will send more information when its available.
Student Organization Leader Workshops
These workshops are to help club leaders acclimcate to their roles, and review Macaulay's policies and procedures pertaining to clubs. At least 2 officers from every club are required to attend. You can see the list of the workshops here.
Fall Travel Deadline
Any travel proposals for the fall semester are due by 9/7/23. Planning to submit a travel proposal can take a lot of time -- plan ahead now! Due to limited resources, we will only be able to approve a maximum of 3 travel proposals between all clubs (each semester). A proposal must include everything listed on the "Off Campus Domestic Travel Checklist" (review all 3 pages). Note, you must separately apply for travel funding as an additional funding request. Completed travel proposals may be submitted to student.clubs@mhc.cuny.edu
Macaulay Diversity Reception
You can help create a welcoming and inclusive community for the Class of 2027 and new Bridge Scholars by attending the Diversity Reception, on Wednesday 8/30 at 7pm. If you're interested in future programming on diversity and creating spaces for diverse students reach out to Macaulay Diversity Initiative: diversityinitiative@macaulay.cuny.edu
Club Budgets
Student Organizations can begin applying to the Scholars Council for an allocation of funding using the Club Budget Request form located here. Note the deadline for the first round of allocations is Tuesday 8/22/23. (Missed the first round? The last date to get a budget this semester is 10/11/23)
Who is a leader? (Spoilers:It's you)
Being a good leader takes work and effort, but it is attainable for everyone. You are already a leader. Thank you for taking on these roles and responsibilities!
As leaders in our community, you may not often know or realize your impact, but take a look at how you are a leader, here in now, in and outside your roles, and find out about everyday leadership here:
