About Us
We are the Macaulay Honors College chapter of Peace Action New York State, the largest peace advocacy group in the United States. Our goal is to expand Peace Action's vision and mission to the Macaulay Honors College and CUNY at large. We seek to mobilize, connect, and organize students, faculty, alumni, and community activists to demand an end to militarism and build a positive peace through a diversity of tactics. To be a decentralized, horizontal student organization that seeks to tap into the revolutionary and radical potential of the student body of CUNY, creating an open and safe space for students to express their identities and politics and thereby allowing radical ideas and actions to be easily and freely produced and reproduced. To support abolition and liberation in all forms, and being unafraid in doing so. Militarism and war, which the national and state Peace Action activists have dedicated their work to opposing, cannot be removed from the systems of racism, cis-heteronormative patriarchy, imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, and carceralism. A genuine, positive peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but also the absence of any forms of oppression or social tensions. Action for peace involves reimagining our world and justice.
